Early Childhood Special Education

The department of early childhood special education trains prospective educators to acquire professional knowledge and skills to teach kindergarteners with disabilities. The program focuses on practical experiences working with children with special needs and families in the field.

About us

The department of special education at Chonnam National University offers undergraduate and graduate programs in early childhood special education. We have produced professionals in an early childhood special education area such as outstanding teachers, consultants, and researchers. Our program focuses on kindergarteners and their families, understanding their disabilities and special needs, and providing evidence-based prospective students with opportunities to gain field and research experiences of preschoolers with special needs.

Career

Students who graduate in this program will receive the early childhood special education teacher certification. The graduates work as special education teachers in a kindergarten or disability rehabilitation center, consultants, researchers in a child research institute, and professors.

Elementary Special Education

The department of elementary special education trains prospective educators to acquire professional knowledge and skills to teach elementary school students with disabilities. The program focuses on practical experiences working with children(Grades 1-6) with special needs, school-related professionals, and families in the field.

About us

The department of special education at Chonnam National University offers undergraduate and graduate programs in elementary special education. We have produced professionals in an elementary special education area including outstanding teachers, superintendents, school administrators, consultants, and researchers. Our program is designed to prepare prospective educators to teach individuals with disabilities including children(Grades 1-6) with mild to moderate disabilities as well as those with severe and multiple disabilities in a variety of educational settings. In addition, we provide opportunities to get research experiences of children with disabilities and professionals in special education.

Career

Students who graduate in this program will receive the elementary special education teacher certification. The graduates work as special education teachers in an elementary school or disability rehabilitation center, consultants, researchers in an academic institution, and professors.

The department of secondary special education trains prospective educators in the professional knowledge and skills to teach secondary school students with disabilities. The program focuses on practical experiences working with middle and high school students with special needs, their families, and professionals in an special education area.

We have produced professionals in secondary special education including outstanding teachers, superintendents, school administrators, consultants, and researchers. Our program is designed to prepare prospective educators to teach secondary school students with mild to moderate disabilities, as well as those with severe and multiple disabilities in a variety of educational settings. We also focus on transition and post-school employment for persons with disabilities. In addition, we provide research opportunities related to secondary school students with disabilities.

Career
