Department of Korean Language Education

To train teachers who are able to teach thinking and communicative competence.

The Department of Korean Language Education is dedicated to training teachers who are able to teach thinking, which is the basis of the study of all subjects, and "linguistic competence" which is communicative competence in secondary schools.

About Us

The Department of Korean Language Education was established in the College of Education in 1978. Since that time, students have accumulated their elite knowledge of Korean language and literature, and polishing their teaching and leadership skills. The goal of the Department of Korean Education is to cultivate teachers who understand and will be able to teach the correct usage of the Korean language in secondary schools and in society at large. Then, the doctoral course of the interdisciplinary program of Korean language education was established in 2002, and the master's and doctoral degree programs were established in 2008 in a graduate school to foster and nurture the ability of experts of Korean language education.

Career

Most graduates of the Department work as Korean language teachers in national, public, or private secondary schools all over the nation including Gwangju, Jeonnam, and Seoul. They are also engaged in profession as an educational administrator, municipal or provincial educator, Korean language institute researcher, Korean language teacher for foreigners, journalist, or professor.
